One of my goals for the beginning of this year was to write a short story with the intention of sharing it on my blog for free.
I’m happy to say that I’ve completed the short story. I have written and rewritten it over the course of this month and I am finally happy with it. The writing was part of an April writing challenge I set myself, which was to write 5k words. After publishing In The Dark of Night, I found myself struggling to write. I couldn’t concentrate on any of my ideas for more than a few days, so this was the perfect challenge. I have written almost 6k words throughout April over two drafts of this short story, and it is complete.
The current draft of the short story is 3.5k words long. It revolves around a young woman encountering a ghost in a soon to be demolished theatre. While it will probably need more edits, they should be small edits rather than alterations to the plot, world building or characters. Despite the story focusing on a paranormal experience, it is not a horror story.
The short story is not long enough for a paperback, but it will be available on ebook for people to buy if they want to support me and my work. I hope that I can do the final edits soon. Then I will need to make a book cover and format it before October this year, in time for Halloween.
